Project: Technical design and system integration, equipment supply and installation, ongoing consultancy
We’ve been working with the award-winning production team at Films@59 for over a decade, designing, supplying, integrating and supporting solutions to help them improve services and overcome workflow challenges.
The pre- and post- production house firm is the largest outside London, with activity spread across multiple buildings in Bristol and Cardiff. Over the years, their storage environment has developed and expanded into a robust multi-tiered architecture providing a scalable secure platform for the varied post-production projects carried out within the facility.
We provide support for their 90+ edit suites, and have provided a new 500TB online shared storage system, an active LTO based large scale production archive and a consolidated scalable Object Matrix platform, as well as installation commissioning and support for Avid PAM. One of our projects for Films@59 was the high-profile deployment of the first Avid S6 in Europe.
Most recently we installed and integrated an Avid Nexis E5 as part of an expanding storage solution. Films@59 needed a flexible, expandable storage platform to support increasing frame rates, more complex formats and a growing roster of activity. The main challenge was to find a storage platform that would complement their existing workflow and third-party editing tools, as well as providing a flexible, expandable system that would work reliably and efficiently with all systems.
We integrated an Avid NEXIS | E5 with numerous existing Avid digital media solutions to support their use of complex production and future-looking workflows such as immersive media. This solution provided the best value for money because it enabled Films@59 to retire some older systems and use a single Avid Nexis platform.
We continue to work closely with them to maximise investment and explore new innovative ways to enhance their existing provision and develop strategies to integrate emerging technologies and workflows.
